Road, Street Lights, & Signage Committee
We wanted to update everyone on some of the improvements and changes in the neighborhood with respect to our committee.
- We have updated six stop signs that are now reflective at Gatewood Dr / Brookfield Dr and Gatewood Dr / Club Dr. We think they are much more visible at night and, hopefully, help to convince drivers to stop. We had the stop lines repainted at those two intersections as well as adding reflective beads to the paint that should make the stop line more visible at night.
- We will be updating all other stop signs in the neighborhood to the red reflective design in the coming weeks.
- We are working on converting the last older wooden pole-style street lights in the neigh- borhood, and those will be updated to LED metal light poles this year by Duke Energy.
- After doing a study on local neighborhood speed limits, the committee recommended lowering the speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph in the neighborhood to be in line with other similar areas in Greenwood. The Board voted to approve updating the speed limit and new speed limit signage should be up in the next few weeks as well.
- We will be filing updated paperwork with the county (with the new speed limit) to continue to allow the Sheriff ’s office to patrol our neigh- borhood for speeding and to make sure people are coming to a complete stop at all stop signs in the neighborhood.
- We recommend anyone who notices company vehicles speeding to not hesitate to reach out to those companies to ask them to slow down in our neighborhood.
- Please drive slowly in Gatewood and give children/pedestrians the right of way.
Thank you.
