Gatewood is fortunate to host a 2 day instructional camp for residents and others in our community led by Sarah Ansboury, a gold medalist in both women’s and mixed doubles at the USAPA National Championships and the US Open. She is the current Director of Pickleball at Palmetto Dunes and a competitive, touring pro. Residents/members (age 16+) who register by Feb. 4 will have priority on one of 12-16 available spots per session. There will be beginner and intermediate sessions each day, a 2 1⁄2 hr session for $95 and a 4 hr session for $145, a significant reduction from obtaining similar quality instruction elsewhere. You may sign up for multiple sessions. Camp dates are Friday and Saturday, February 18 and 19. The camp is for you if you want to take your game to the next level or to simply learn to avoid injuries while playing. The weekend of March 11-13, Gatewood will host our first annual “Spring into Pickleball” Round Robin Tournament. This event will feature ladies’, men’s and mixed doubles. Contact Mary Alice Poore, 864-980-6959, if you will help recruit sponsors or provide hospitality. All profits from the tournament will go toward the Gatewood pickleball court renovation project. Registration will be handled by pickleballtournaments.com.

Spring tennis right around the corner so make sure you get your Gatewood tennis teams legal! If you have any problems forming a team or getting on a team please let me know. Sign your kids up for our academy tennis clinics which run every week Monday through Thursday. Kids must be 10 years or older for this clinic. Call the shop for more details on other clinics and private lessons.
